Colleen Bessett Newest Gift Shop Volunteer

Colleen Bessett Newest Gift Shop Volunteer

We are very proud to announce our newest volunteer – Colleen Bessett.  Colleen, a member, recently volunteered to assist in the operation of our Gift Shop.  One of her first activities was to change the appearance of the Gift Shop to reflect the sights of the  fall season.  Working with Dorcey Crammond, Trustee and Chair of the Gift Shop, they will be making other changes in its appearance and  introducing  new  items and services.

Colleen is following in a family tradition of working at and supporting the Ticonderoga Historical Society.  Great-grandfather, Fred Hill, was one of the early janitors at the Hancock House, Grand-mother, Mary Hill, worked with Jane Lape, Curator with the New York State Historical Association when the Hancock House was its Headquarters, and mother, Nancy Tierney, a long term member and Trustee.  The  family connection with Society is assured by Colleen’s grand-son David Bechard, age 11, being our youngest student member.  David is an active member and has contributed displays for the Festival of Trees, attended many programs and events,  and with Colleen sold hot dogs and lemon aid at our fund-raising Summer A-fair.

If you have an interest in history,  a desire to help the Society preserve the Hancock House and its great collections, we invite you, like Colleen and David,  to become a member and volunteer.
