A Terrible Beauty

March 18, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

An Irish-American exhibit about Ticonderoga, the Adirondack region and New York State providing support for Irish Independence and the subsequent creation of the Irish Free State.

The exhibit takes a look at the pivotal events that helped the cause of Irish Independence with a broad review of how Irish-Americans helped settle the Adirondacks, a historical look at the 1860s and 1870s Fenian Raids into Canada, and the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin.

As part of the exhibit the Ticonderoga Historical Society will be showing three Irish themed movies over the next three months.

This exhibit opening is a one night sneak preview and is one of three major feature exhibits for our 2016 season.  The Hancock House will re-open late in May and continue with regular scheduled hours until the end of December 2016.

This exhibit was curated by Diane O’Connor and is on exhibit in the 2nd floor Harmon Gallery.
